Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec 3.3 RTR with 2.4 Radio Review
Youíre a keen RC car enthusiast, who loves the joy of seeing miniature vehicles come alive, roaring and racing away in their miniature scale form, powered only by nitro fuel or rechargeable batteries. Youíre not content with just ordinary racing and getting by, you want the winning edge, and you know youíre prepared to put your skills to the test for RC racing supremacy. The Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec 3.3 RTR with 2.4 Radio might just be that elusive RC car youíve been looking for.
Be forewarned though, the Nitro 4-Tec 3.3 is not built for just any ordinary RC car hobbyist. I was lucky enough to bump into this hot-looking model at my local hobby store, which sports a grey, sporty chassis with red and blue highlights. Armed with 2.0 mesh wheels, I figured that this RC car certainly makes a powerful statement from the way it looks. Sure enough, I was proven correct, as looking further at the specs, Traxxas assigned the highest skill rating of 5, indicating this model is only for expert drivers. So I decided this model certainly should pack something that I was looking for in getting an edge in RC car racing.
Once you power up this little racer, Traxxasí trademark TRX 3.3 Racing Engine doesnít disappoint at all. This is the fastest and most powerful model that I had just started up. The acceleration was so wickedly fast, that I had to really take it to a really clear, open space, free of any traffic, vehicle or pedestrian. So unleashing its power in a zero to max speed acceleration in Formula-1 style, this little beast really did hit is max of 70+ mph! So if youíre looking for a model to break the RC speed barrier, this is it. It was a joy to see all four tires clawing away with solid traction at such blistering speed. Mind you, donít be half asleep when youíre controlling this racer at such a speed. Like real-life and full-sized racing, any slips and you would end up with a wreck one way or another. Now I understood why Traxxas assigned the highest skill rating of 5 for this model, together with its catchy slogan, ìBlink and Youíll Miss Itî.
Starting up the TRX 3.3 Racing Engine was very easy and convenient, thanks to the help of the EZ-Start push-button electric starting thatís provided. You can actually start up the engine with just one hand using the push-button, which lights the glow plug to start the engine. Taking apart this highly-powered Nitro 4-Tec to understand it a little better, I found that apart from the highly-powered racing engine, there was also an aluminium pipe that looks stunning, being anodized in blue and etched with laser. So thatís where the high-powered exhaust comes from. Completed by an automatic 2-speed transmission, I began to see how this little beast could accelerate so quickly at lower speeds, and switching into the higher gear at higher speeds. You can even adjust the transmission to suit your racing preferences. Most importantly, it was also that 2.4GHz Radio technology that allows you to command this racer at will, without worrying about any cross-signals.
Finally getting the grip of the Nitro 4-Tec 3.3 RTR with 2.4 Radio, I took it to the race track. Yes, it really does tear up the competition too with such extreme acceleration and speed. Taking corners was really demanding, requiring such fine timing and movements from my nimble fingers as my pulse raced. On a straight road, that was the sheer fun of seeing this little beast roar away up to its 70+ mph top speed. All in, if you have honed your RC car racing skills to an expert level and if youíre prepared to handle this little speed demon, then this is one decision that you wonít regret as the Nitro 4-Tec 3.3 is designed to race ahead of your competition.
