Shockwave 1/10 Scale RC Nitro Buggy by Redcat Racing
Have you ever thought of taking up a new hobby like racing with remote-controlled (RC) cars? If youíve ever played with older battery-powered ones in your childhood, itís time to relive the experience, and if youíre new, youíre in for one exciting ride too. Today, if youíre just about to get started in playing with modern-day RC cars, I would like to recommend the SHOCKWAVE ~ 1/10 SCALE ~ RC NITRO BUGGY that would more than get you started out.
This buggy is a cheap, entry-level model for you to get your feet wet with handling RC vehicles, before you even think of progressing to those more advanced models that require more skills to handle properly. So let me share with you how I got started off with this model. While browsing around in a hobby store of a downtown shopping mall, I came across this model of a bright blue buggy. Looking a little more closely, I then discovered it was not just a model toy, it was a full-fledged, RC buggy that is on a 1/10 scale, produced by Redcat Racing and sporting a catchy name indeed, ìShockwaveî. So while there were other models on display such as the monster trucks and cars by Traxxas, I saw that most of them required at least some prior experience in handling RC cars. So there was my perfect choice of my 1st RC vehicle, the SHOCKWAVE ~ 1/10 SCALE ~ RC NITRO BUGGY.
Now seeing that this buggy was nitro-powered, I figured that this involved some extra steps in powering up the little buggy to get it running. While I did see other electric-powered models on sale, I was also keen to get the real feel of refuelling a miniature buggy. So thatís why I chose this nitro model instead. Being new to this, the storekeeper prompted me to purchase the Nitro Starter Kit also by Redcat Racing, and a quart of Nitrotane Race 20% to get things rolling. The starter kit includes all the little tools needed for nitro vehicles, including a fuel bottle, and the glow plug igniter needed to start up the engine. So after taking some time to understand how to fix it up, I filled up the buggy with nitro and got it started and running.
This little 4-wheel drive buggy really does provide you with the fun you get from driving a real-life, full-sized 4-wheeler on the road outdoors, minus all the hassles of its full-sized counterpart. Being miniature with a tiny 2.67cc Vertex engine, the controls were responsive, and it was fun seeing this sporty little blue buggy with fiery streaks of black and white accelerating on the pavement and onto some sand and gravel cross-country style. Being a 4-wheeler, the traction on the tires was impressive as it tore up the terrain with a solid grip. This really seems to work just the same way as with life-sized 4-wheelers. Brakes were also responsive with its composite discs, and although it only has a single-speed transmission, I sure thought this was good enough to get the real feel of controlling and manoeuvring this little buggy around corners before taking on any of those more advanced models that sported higher speeds.
So sure enough, I got my feet wet with RC car racing, and so can you with the SHOCKWAVE ~ 1/10 SCALE ~ RC NITRO BUGGY. There are tutorial videos included to show you how to do some basic fixing and tuning, and do try out this nitro model to get the real feel and satisfaction of seeing how nitro fuel is burned into pure racing joy with this sturdy blue buggy.
